Dr. Edward L. Hill to Lead Academic Affairs at Voorhees University

Voorhees University has named Dr. Edward L. Hill as its new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, effective July 8, 2025. A proven leader in higher education with over 20 years of experience, Dr. Hill steps into the role with a deep commitment to academic innovation, student success, and equity across the HBCU landscape.

Dr. Hill most recently served as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Provost at Talladega College, where he also held the role of Interim President. His career spans both HBCUs and PWIs, including key leadership roles at Texas A&M University–Central Texas, Harris-Stowe State University, Wilberforce University, and Fort Valley State University.

“His breadth of experience and visionary leadership will be instrumental in guiding our academic affairs and driving forward our mission,” said Voorhees President Dr. Ronnie Hopkins.

A recognized voice in educational equity and African American male achievement, Dr. Hill has secured millions in grant funding, launched student-centered academic programs, and published widely on culturally responsive teaching. He holds degrees from Morehouse College, Columbia College, and South Carolina State University.

“I am both humbled and energized by the opportunity to join Voorhees,” said Dr. Hill. “Together, we will pursue bold, student-centered innovations that honor the university’s mission and elevate its national profile.”
