UNCF recently announced the appointment of Dr. Tashni-Ann Dubroy as UNCF’s new Chief Business Officer, a newly created role designed to strengthen the organization’s operations and support its member institutions.
In this role, Dr. Dubroy will work alongside UNCF President and CEO Dr. Michael L. Lomax to align resources, enhance accountability, and drive operational efficiency—all in service of UNCF’s mission to support students and HBCUs nationwide. Her leadership will play a key role in preparing UNCF for its next era of growth and impact.
Dr. Dubroy comes to UNCF with extensive higher education leadership experience. She previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Howard University, managing areas such as human resources, IT, facilities, public safety, and enrollment management. Before that, she was the 17th President of Shaw University, where she led institutional transformation, strengthened finances, and elevated the university’s reputation.
“Dr. Dubroy brings a rare combination of higher education, corporate strategy, and operational expertise,” said Chair Jones. “She has a proven ability to translate strategy into action, build high-performing teams, and guide mission-driven institutions through growth and modernization.”

Dr. Dubroy also served as a senior global advisor with the DGA Group, where she guided organizations on complex strategic, operational, and governance challenges. She earned her Ph.D. in Physical Organic Chemistry from North Carolina State University, an MBA from Rutgers University, and a B.Sc. from Shaw University.
