December 13, 2024 – Tennessee State University (TSU) has named Dwayne Tucker as its new Interim President following a special Board of Trustees meeting held last Friday. Tucker, a proud TSU alumnus, steps into the role after the unexpected resignation of Dr. Ronald Johnson earlier in the week.
As a TSU graduate, I am deeply committed to ensuring a strong and prosperous future for my alma mater and the students who place their trust in us for their education,” said Tucker.
Tucker has pledged to lead with transparency and integrity, stating, “We have serious and important work to do, and I look forward to working with the board to uphold the values and mission of TSU. That’s the TSU way.” Notably, Tucker announced he will not accept a salary in his interim role.
Tucker is set to serve as Interim President until June 30, 2025, as the university continues its national search for a permanent leader.
