Fisk University has announced Nuriya Mack as the interim head coach of its gymnastics team. Mack, who was originally hired by former head coach Corrinne Tarver in 2023 as Meet Director and Social Media Manager, has played a key role in the program’s development. She brings a strong background in coaching, athlete development, and event management to her new leadership role.
“I am honored to step into this role and continue building on the incredible foundation of Fisk’s gymnastics program,” said Coach Mack. “These student-athletes are dedicated, resilient, and inspiring, and I look forward to guiding them through the next phase of their journey.”
Before joining Fisk, Mack served as Lead Coach and Program Director at GYSTARS Gymnastics, where she led competitive teams and managed major events such as the Aloha from Memphis and Gymnastics Mobility Meet.
“Fisk University’s gymnastics program has quickly become a trailblazer, inspiring young women nationwide,” said Fisk Athletic Director Valencia Jordan. “As we transition to new leadership, our commitment to supporting these student-athletes remains steadfast. We are excited about the future of this program and the continued success of our team.”
The university will soon launch a national search for its next head gymnastics coach. Fisk also extends gratitude to Coach Corrinne Tarver, who made history by leading the first-ever HBCU women’s gymnastics program. Under her leadership and in collaboration with Black Girls Gymnastics, the program established a strong foundation that will continue to grow.
