The Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC), has officially appointed Rev. Dr. Herman “Skip” Mason, Jr. as its 12th President following a successful year in an interim capacity.
Under Dr. Mason’s leadership, ITC has reaffirmed accreditation through 2032, relaunched its Certificate of Theology Program, reopened the Costen Center, and strengthened financial operations with key hires. The institution has also secured new support from The Home Depot, In Trust Center for Theological Schools, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
“Dr. Mason’s love for ITC and his proven leadership make him the right person to guide the institution into its next era,” said Calvin E. Booker, Sr., Board Chair.
A two-time ITC graduate and former Alpha Phi Alpha General President, Dr. Mason brings over 35 years of experience in education and ministry — including leadership roles at Morris Brown, Morehouse, and Voorhees College. His investiture will be held on March 3, 2026.
“We will expand enrollment, launch a capital campaign, and reimagine our campus for the next era of Black theological education,” said Dr. Mason.
