Leadership Shake-Up at Allen University as Board Names Interim President

Allen University has announced that the contract of President Ernest McNealey was not renewed, effective December 15, 2025. Dr. McNealey has served as the 30th president of the institution since 2017.

In an official communication released yesterday evening, Bishop James L. Davis, Chair of the Allen University Board of Trustees, confirmed that Dr. McNealey no longer has the authority to conduct business, make decisions, or represent the institution in any official capacity as of that date. See note below.

Dr. McNealey served as the 30th president of Allen University, assuming the role in 2017. The Board’s letter did not specify the reasons for the decision not to continue his contract.

Following a formal vote of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Stanley Pritchett Sr. has been appointed Interim President. Dr. Pritchett brings prior leadership experience within the AME Church and higher education, and is expected to provide stability and continuity during the transition period as the Board determines next steps for permanent leadership.
