Bethune-Cookman University has announced three finalists in its national search for the institution’s next president—bringing the historic Daytona Beach-based HBCU one step closer to naming its next leader.
Selected through a process led by a 15-member presidential search committee, the finalists will soon participate in on-campus interviews and engage with key stakeholders, faculty, and students.
“This is an important decision for the university and our community,” said John Crossman, chair of the search committee. “We look forward to learning more about each candidate’s vision for B-CU.”
Meet the Finalists:
Dr. Albert Mosley
Currently serving as president of Morningside University in Iowa, Dr. Mosley brings a wealth of leadership experience and a strong track record of innovation. Under his leadership, Morningside launched its first School of Aviation, introduced new academic programs—including cybersecurity and public health—and secured major philanthropic investments. A first-generation college graduate from Mississippi, Mosley holds degrees from Millsaps College, Duke, Yale, and the University of Georgia.
Dr. Tunjarnika “Nika” Coleman-Ferrell
As Vice President for Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer at Palm Beach State College, Coleman-Ferrell oversees a five-campus institution serving 40,000+ students. A proud Florida Atlantic University alumna, she has advanced through roles from faculty to provost, all while building deep community partnerships and mentoring young leaders. Her leadership is rooted in a passion for student motivation, achievement, and equity.
Dr. SherRhonda Gibbs
An HBCU alum with degrees from Grambling State and Jackson State, Dr. Gibbs currently serves as dean of business and economics at Morehouse College. She’s also held leadership roles at the University of Northern Colorado and the University of Southern Mississippi. Known for her focus on building student confidence and career readiness, she brings a data-informed approach to business education and institutional advancement.
