October 2, 2024 – Dr. Wil Lucas has been selected to serve as the new Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Success at Simmons College of Kentucky, the only private Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in Kentucky.
With over a decade of experience in higher education, Dr. Lucas brings a wealth of expertise in enrollment strategy, student retention, and academic success. His leadership will be pivotal in advancing Simmons College’s mission to provide transformative educational opportunities for underserved communities.
Prior to joining Simmons College, Dr. Lucas held key Enrollment Management positions at Livingstone College, Shaw University, and Philander Smith University. In these roles, he was instrumental in implementing programs and policies that enhanced student engagement, streamlined admissions processes, and bolstered retention rates.
A 3X HBCU grad, Dr. Lucas holds a Bachelors of Communications from Benedict College, a Masters in Organizational Communication from Bowie State University and a PhD in Urban Higher Education from Jackson State University.
His appointment comes at the crossroad of a new chapter for the institution, as it recently unveiled a new residence hall, the first in over 100 years.
