Tuskegee University has officially announced the appointment of Dr. Thierno Thiam as the new Provost and Senior Vice President. Dr. Thiam, a distinguished academic leader, returns to Tuskegee after serving as the Provost and Chief Academic Officer at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In his new role, Dr. Thiam is tasked with conducting a comprehensive review of Tuskegee’s academic offerings to ensure alignment with societal trends, skill demands, and employment needs across industry and government sectors. His vision includes driving the university’s journey toward achieving high research activity (R2) status and expanding the undergraduate international student population.
Dr. Thiam is no stranger to Tuskegee University, having previously served in several influential roles, including as Special Advisor to two presidents, a tenured professor, Chair of the Department of History and Political Science, and Co-Director of the Integrative Public Policy and Development Ph.D. program.
Tuskegee President and CEO Dr. Mark A.
